Weekly Update from Principal Potis

Husky Families,

We have an exciting few weeks ahead at Crownhill! There are so many fun events on the calendar—our Trunk or Treat, SEL Night, Craft Fair, Book Fair, and Fall Conferences are all coming up soon. These events are great opportunities to connect with our school community, celebrate learning, and enjoy time together. We can’t wait to see you there!

As a quick reminder, our students go outside for lunch recess rain or shine! Please be sure your child comes to school with weather-appropriate clothing and footwear each day so they can stay warm and dry while having fun outside.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Carre Potis

Crownhill Principal

Crownhill SEL Family Night

SEL Family Night at Crownhill Elementary is an interactive evening where students and their families engage in activities focused on social-emotional learning. The event promotes skills like self-awareness, empathy, and positive communication through games, discussions, and hands-on stations—encouraging families to practice and support SEL both at school and at home.

October Trait of the Month: Responsibility

In October, our focus is on Responsibility! Responsibility means taking action and understanding the impact of our choices. Students are learning that being responsible can take many forms—turning in work on time, caring for a pet, being kind to a new classmate, or standing up for what’s right. Throughout October, we’ll highlight and celebrate responsible choices as we help students build habits that lead to positive outcomes both in and out of school.

Our monsters are ready to share their candy tonight! Due to expected rain, Trunk or Treat will now take place inside the gym from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Coming up next, our Annual Craft Fair & Silent Auction on Saturday, November 1st! This community staple has been around since the 1960s and we’re honored to be able to continue the tradition. We’ll have over 25 vendors, including two hot food trucks, plus Santa will be available for free photos! Don’t miss a special appearance by Rhubarb the Reindeer, the Tacoma Rainiers’ mascot, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You’ll also get early access to our Scholastic Book Fair…you won’t want to miss it!

And finally, our Scholastic Book Fair will be open during conferences on 11/6, 11/7, and 11/10! The money raised during the Book Fair helps provide books for our students and supports our classroom libraries. We’ll have limited copies of the BRAND NEW Diary of a Wimpy Kid 20: Partypooper and Dog-Man: Big Jim Believes!
