Husky Happenings

Weekly Update from Principal Potis

Husky Families,

Even though this week was short, we packed in a lot of fun at Crownhill! We had several opportunities to refine our rainy-day recess plans ☔. We honored veterans during our Veterans Day Assembly. House leaders began helping in kindergarten classes, and we ended the week with several cadets from the Washington Youth Academy joining us for recess, lunch, and small-group support. Our Huskies did an amazing job welcoming them and teaching them the Husky way.

You may have noticed a change to a couple of parking spaces at Crownhill. There are now two spaces by the preschool portable designated for preschool pick-up and drop-off. We have some preschool friends who need additional support transitioning to and from class, and we want to ensure there are spots available close to their classroom. Thank you for helping keep those spaces free for them.

We know that many people in the Crownhill community have been impacted by the government shutdown. We also understand that this time of year is already hard, and working without a paycheck makes meeting basic needs even more challenging. Houses Altruismo and Sollevare are partnering with Bremerton Foodline for a Crownhill food drive. This effort is meant to uplift our community, and we ask that you only consider donating if you are in a position to comfortably do so.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Carre Potis

November Trait of the Month: Gratitude

We are looking forward to focusing on Gratitude in November! One way to think about Gratitude is “choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.” Practicing Gratitude can increase our well-being and our happiness.

Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month

November is Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month. The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Native American Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.
