Weekly Update from Principal Potis
Husky Families,
What a fun week we had at Crownhill!
Last night, house leaders and a handful of staff presented to the school board and sorted some of Bremerton's finest. Here are the results of the sort:
- Director Anderson – Amistad 🔴
- Director Turner – Sollevare 🟡
- Quincy Robinson, Student Representative to the Board – Amistad 🔴
- Marlaina Simmons, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent – Rêveur 🔵
- Director Bolton – Amistad 🔴
- Director Dubos – Rêveur 🔵
- Director Hurley – Altruismo ⚫
- Superintendent McSheehy – Isibindi 🟢
- Karen Bevers, Director of Communication & Community Engagement – Altruismo ⚫
- Mayor Wheeler – Sollevare 🟡
Cal, Zoe, Juana, Viv, Annalee, Abbie, and Cam did an excellent job representing Crownhill and presenting to a packed board room.
I also wanted to share that I received a phone call this afternoon from Ashley Guerrero, Child Nutrition Services Supervisor, who wanted to express how impressed she was with our students today during Frosty’s Breakfast. She said they were consistently polite - saying please, thank you, and no thank you. She wanted to make sure we all knew how kind they were to her and her team. She said there were zero issues today with our Huskies! Please give your students a high five and a hug for showing our guests the Husky way.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Take care,
Carre Potis Crownhill Principal

Highly Capable Referral Window is Open
The window for referring students for Bremerton School District’s Highly Capable (HiCap) services opened December 1, 2025, and closes March 15, 2026. Teachers, families, and community members may refer students for consideration.
HiCap services are available for students in grades 1–5 within their neighborhood schools through clustered classrooms with evidence-based enrichment in the regular learning environment. For grades 6–12, students are supported through clustered advisory periods and rigorous coursework. Students may be identified for services in literacy and/or math.
Families will be notified of screening results by early May, and identified students who accept services will begin receiving them in the 2026–27 school year.
For more information, please visit the Highly Capable page on the Bremerton School District website or contact your child’s teacher.

December Trait of the Month: Empathy
This month’s focus is Empathy. One way to think about Empathy is “understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings.” Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships. Empathy is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
