Weekly Update from Principal Potis
Husky Families,
As we head into winter break, I want to thank our families for your continued partnership and support. The weeks leading up to the break have been filled with learning, growth, and many moments of joy across our school, and we are so proud of the hard work our students and staff have put in. Winter break is a well-deserved time to rest, reconnect, and enjoy special moments together. We encourage you to read, play, and spend time as a family, and to take care of yourselves during this busy season. We look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready to learn in the new year. Wishing you a safe, restful, and joyful winter break.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Take care,
Carre Potis Crownhill Principal

Highly Capable Referral Window is Open
The window for referring students for Bremerton School District’s Highly Capable (HiCap) services opened December 1, 2025, and closes March 15, 2026. Teachers, families, and community members may refer students for consideration.
HiCap services are available for students in grades 1–5 within their neighborhood schools through clustered classrooms with evidence-based enrichment in the regular learning environment. For grades 6–12, students are supported through clustered advisory periods and rigorous coursework. Students may be identified for services in literacy and/or math.
Families will be notified of screening results by early May, and identified students who accept services will begin receiving them in the 2026–27 school year.
For more information, please visit the Highly Capable page on the Bremerton School District website or contact your child’s teacher.

January Trait of the Month: Perseverance
This month is all about Perseverance. One way to think about Perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up. How might you practice Perseverance as a family this month?
Perseverance is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Strong. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting.
