We had a fun, short week at Crownhill filled with learning, laughing and many of us hoping for snow. While the snow never came, the cold temperatures did. Please join us in reminding our Huskies to bring a coat to school.

SEL Survey
Bremerton School District is committed to supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral health of students. The insights gathered from SEL surveys are invaluable to school staff, as they help to better understand students' emotional well-being and social interactions. This data plays a crucial role in creating supportive environments and targeted interventions that foster student success. This information will help schools and staff understand the needs of students at both the individual and school level.
Families who wish to opt out of the SEL survey, should contact their child's teacher or counselor to express this decision prior to 3/3/26. The teacher or counselor will guide them through the opt-out process and ensure the student is excluded from the survey. It is important for families to communicate their request before the survey is administered to ensure it is processed in time. Afterward, families will receive confirmation that the student will not participate in the survey.

Highly Capable Referral Window is Open
The window for referring students for Bremerton School District’s Highly Capable (HiCap) services opened December 1, 2025, and closes March 15, 2026. Teachers, families, and community members may refer students for consideration.
HiCap services are available for students in grades 1–5 within their neighborhood schools through clustered classrooms with evidence-based enrichment in the regular learning environment. For grades 6–12, students are supported through clustered advisory periods and rigorous coursework. Students may be identified for services in literacy and/or math.
Families will be notified of screening results by early May, and identified students who accept services will begin receiving them in the 2026–27 school year.

February Trait of the Month: Honesty
This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and reduce stress.
Honesty is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management.
