Weekly Update from Principal Potis
Husky Families,
This week, Crownhill students participated in a meaningful service project called Blankets of Hope, organized by our school counselor, Johanna Cox. During the activity, students first took part in a lesson about kindness and compassion, reflecting on how small acts of care can make a big difference in someone’s life. After the lesson, students wrote messages of encouragement and hope that were attached to blankets that will be donated to members of our community in need. Before sending the blankets on their way, students took a moment to wish them well, hoping they will bring comfort and warmth to those who receive them. The blankets will be delivered to the Salvation Army for distribution in our community. We are so proud of our Huskies for showing empathy, generosity, and a commitment to caring for others.
To wrap up a great week, we also want to cheer on our local team tonight! The Bremerton High School boys basketball team will be playing Columbia River at 7:15 PM, streaming live on NFHS as they continue their run toward another state championship. If you’re able, tune in and help us cheer on the Knights!
Thank you for being part of such a caring community. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Take care,
Carre Potis Crownhill Principal

🚗 Important Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders for Families 🚗
We are seeing some safety concerns during arrival and dismissal and need your help to ensure all students remain safe.
Please remember:
• Pull all the way forward along the curb before stopping. • Pull up to the curb to drop off students — please do not stop in the middle of traffic to let students out. • Keep drop-off quick. Students should be ready to exit the car when you reach the curb. • Do not park in the drop-off lane and walk students to the gate. This lane must remain moving and clear for buses. • If your child has patrol duty, please park in a designated parking space while you wait rather than stopping at the front curb. • Do not drive around other cars in the drop-off line. This creates dangerous situations for students and staff.
We have buses entering and exiting, students crossing, and many vehicles moving at once. When everyone follows the same procedures, traffic flows smoothly and safely.
Our shared goal is a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal for all students. Thank you for your partnership and attention to these important procedures!

Highly Capable Referral Window is Open
The window for referring students for Bremerton School District’s Highly Capable (HiCap) services opened December 1, 2025, and closes March 15, 2026. Teachers, families, and community members may refer students for consideration.
HiCap services are available for students in grades 1–5 within their neighborhood schools through clustered classrooms with evidence-based enrichment in the regular learning environment. For grades 6–12, students are supported through clustered advisory periods and rigorous coursework. Students may be identified for services in literacy and/or math.
Families will be notified of screening results by early May, and identified students who accept services will begin receiving them in the 2026–27 school year.
For more information, please visit the Highly Capable page on the Bremerton School District website or contact your child’s teacher.

March Trait of the Month: Cooperation
This month’s focus is Cooperation. One way to think about Cooperation is “working together to reach shared goals.” Cooperation is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
